the next problem

In order for the 120 or so pictures to be digitized and imported into an animation program, I set to rig up a mini photography studio in my room for a couple of days. Using a three point lighting system (almost) consisting of clip-on lights and my light box as the fill light, and a regular VHS camcorder, I was able to get a pretty good image of the drawings. To get the images onto the computer, I used a device called a Snappy which captures still frames off of a video camera or video tape and imports them to the computer as bitmaps.

setup

This is a diagram of how everything was set up in my room. On the left is the light table set on it's side to provide a soft light to balance out the sharp light from the clip on. The comic books on the floor are there to illustrate that it was a long and tedious process to snap all the frames of the animation, and I ran out of reading material more than once.
